answer: my opinion is that this is nothing but suicide, and that person will be punished in hell just as has been authentically reported from the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). [1]
I believe that there is no excuse for one who commits this during our time as it is a form of suicide and infamous in modern times, that has spread among the people. So as such, it is incumbent on all people to ask the people of knowledge about such acts, so that proper guidance can be distinguished from sin. It 's amazing that these people even kill themselves (with the others) when Allah clearly prohibited, saying
"Do not kill yourselves. Allah is merciful to all." [an-Nisa ', 29]
And most of these people wants nothing more than revenge on their enemies, no matter how they reach it - be it through legitimate means or prohibited. Want nothing more than to relieve their thirst for revenge.
We ask Allah to give us the proper insight in the application of His religion and in the performance of acts that I meet. He is capable of everything.
[1] The Hadith is narrated by Abu Hurayra (radiallaahu 'Anha) in which he said that the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu' alayhi wa sallam) said: "Whoever kills himself with a piece of iron, the same piece of iron in his hand and will continue to stick with it in the fire of hell, living there forever. And anyone who drinks the poison to kill himself, continue to sip it in the fire of hell, living there forever. And anyone who jumps from a mountain to kill himself, will continue to jump into the fire of hell, living there forever.
